WALTHAM HISTORY

Enjoy the latest Waltham town history updates from Norma Hardison.

The Waltham Historical Society had a great time showing the slides of the boy scout days with Dave Seward of Gouldsboro as Scout Master. The “boys” are now about 50 years older and wiser, we hope because of Dave's teaching and sense of adventure. Dave was good about including the parents, so we got to enjoy those adventures, also. All that makes so many memories. We are sharing a link to the photos hoping you will enjoy them, too.

Nathan Jordan posted this chapter from the book “Munsungun to the Sea ” on the site of “Growing Up In Waltham.” It's a first-hand account of how they moved logs down Graham Lake in the1920's. It shows how hard they worked at very dangerous jobs and how creative they had to be. I have highlighted names of places some of which no one alive today probably would remember. I have learned how important those names were to the workers to follow orders and to identify where they were.
